About the Journal

Founded by renowned chemistry researchers Professor Jerzy Radecki, and Professor Hanna Redacka the Polish Journal of Environmental Studies was first published in 1996. Created to provide a home for research addressing environmental protection, environmental degradation and its direct threat to human health and life, in the last 30 years the journal has published impactful research from across the globe and is an important independent voice in the field.

In 2025, in response to growing numbers of interdisciplinary submissions, the journal was joined by a sister title; Polish Journal of Environmental Studies: Politics, Economics and Industry.

This new journal has a broad scope, covering the implications and applications of environmental science, including environmental policy, environmental economics, corporate sustainability (ESG), climate justice, and environmental ethics. Issues which are shaping contemporary societies.

Together, the two journals reflect the progression of the environmental science; from academic and scientific investigation, to policy and ethics for societies attempting to reach net zero and meet sustainable development goals.

As independent journals operating in close collaboration with the researcher community, PJOES and PJOES:PEAI offer authors a home for interdisciplinary work, editorial speed and flexibility, and high quality publishing that comes from a personal relationship with a small and consistent publishing team.
