CrossMark, Correction, and Retraction Policy

Policy Statement
Articles published by the Polish Journal of Environmental Studies: Politics, Economy, and Industry (PJOESPEAI) form an integral part of the global scholarly record. To protect the integrity and completeness of this record, published articles cannot be simply amended or removed. In the event of errors or ethical concerns, PJOESPEAI will issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions following the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.

CrossMark Initiative
PJOESPEAI participates in the CrossMark scheme, a multi-publisher initiative providing a standardized way for readers to locate the most current version of a piece of content.

  • By applying the CrossMark logo, PJOESPEAI commits to maintaining published content and alerting readers to updates.
  • Clicking the CrossMark logo reveals the current status of a document and additional record information, including funding, licensing, and peer review history.

Editorial Actions and Criteria

  1. Retractions
The Editor-in-Chief will consider retracting a publication if:
    • Clear evidence exists that findings are unreliable due to misconduct (e.g., data fabrication) or honest error (e.g., miscalculation).
    • The findings have been previously published elsewhere without proper justification or permission (redundant publication).
    • The content constitutes plagiarism or reports unethical research.
  2. Expressions of Concern
An expression of concern may be issued if:
    • Evidence of research or publication misconduct is inconclusive.
    • Findings appear unreliable, but the authors' institution will not investigate.
    • An investigation is deemed unfair or is expected to take a considerable amount of time.
  3. Corrections (Corrigenda and Errata)
Corrigendum: Issued if a small portion of a reliable publication is misleading (especially due to honest error) or if the author/contributor list is incorrect.
Erratum: Issued specifically if the publisher introduced errors during the production process.
Minor Edits: Small, inconsequential errors (e.g., typos) may be corrected without a formal notice.

Transparency and Persistence
  • Authority: Only the journal’s Editor can decide to retract an article or publish a correction. Notices will state the reason for the action and identify the party issuing it.
  • Availability: The original manuscript will remain available online with a clear indication of its status (Retracted or Corrected).
  • Removal: In rare instances involving legal mandates, an article may be removed. In these cases, the metadata will remain, but the full text will be withdrawn.
